Terms of Use
Last updated 18 September 2026
These terms govern your use of PDFolio. By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. Using the tools
The tools are free to use for their intended purpose: processing your own documents, or documents you are authorised to process. The vast majority of tools process documents entirely inside your browser — no file content is uploaded to our servers. A small number of tools (AI Summarizer, Chat with PDF, Translate PDF) send a text extract of your document to a server-side API in order to call a third-party AI provider. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
You may not use the site to process material you have no right to process, or in any way that breaks the law where you are.
2. Ownership of the software
The software behind PDFolio — its source code, its compiled and minified output, its document-processing engines, its page content, copy and design — is the proprietary work of PDFolio and is protected by copyright. All rights are reserved. It is not open source, and no licence to reuse it is granted to anyone.
In particular, you may not copy, reproduce, modify, adapt, translate, publish, distribute, sublicense, sell, rent, host, mirror, or create derivative works from any part of it. You may not remove or obscure any copyright notice it carries.
3. Enforcement
We reserve every remedy available to us for unauthorised copying or use. That may include seeking removal of infringing material, issuing takedown notices, seeking injunctive relief, and pursuing a civil claim for copyright infringement and any associated damages and costs.
4. Your files and your privacy
Document processing happens entirely on your device. Files you open in a tool are never sent to a server, which means we cannot see them, cannot store them, and cannot recover them for you.
Anything a tool saves between visits — history, saved workflows, preferences — is kept in your own browser's storage and can be cleared from your browser at any time.
5. No warranty
The tools are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. Document processing can be lossy, and results vary with the input. Keep your originals, and check any output you intend to rely on — particularly for anything legal, financial or official.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site, including loss of data.
6. Changes
These terms may change. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last revised, and continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms.
7. Contact
For licensing enquiries, permission requests, or to report unauthorised use of this software, please get in touch through the contact details published on the site.
